Pocket Avionics

Your phone's sensors as an aircraft instrument panel: a classic six-pack or a glass cockpit.

Testing opens soon What it does
The glass cockpit: airspeed and altitude tapes either side of the horizon, and a heading display

What it does

Real instruments, real sensors

Attitude from the rotation sensor, altitude and vertical speed from the barometer, heading, turn rate and slip, and GPS ground speed and track.

Panels for every aircraft

A modern trainer, a 1930s vintage panel, aerobatic, glider and a glass cockpit, or lay out your own grid of instruments.

Record and replay

Record a flight at 10 Hz, replay it on the panel with play, pause and scrub, and export it as CSV or a GPX track.

Day and night

Nothing on screen but the instruments. Red or amber night lighting, portrait and landscape, phones and tablets.

Private by design

No accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. The app has no internet permission, so everything stays on your device.

Android 8.0 and newer

Works with whatever sensors your phone has, and shows which ones each instrument is reading.

Not for navigation

Pocket Avionics is a toy and a learning aid, not a certified flight instrument. Phone sensors drift, lag and fail without warning, and the airspeed indicator shows GPS ground speed, not airspeed. Never use it for navigation, for flight in cloud, or in place of the aircraft's own instruments.
